Patient Education

Patient Education

Antenatal education is essential to ensure that our patients, their partners and other support people are informed and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. That’s why we offer all our new patients an appointment with one of our midwives to help formulate a personalised antenatal education plan.
There are a large range of educational options for patients, including information provided by our doctors, online Zoom classes through Frances Perry House, alternative class options such as ‘Calm Birth’ courses and pre-recorded online education. Our midwives will assess the patient’s individual needs and assist in arranging the education package that is most appropriate. After completing classes, we encourage all our patients to discuss their birth preferences with their primary obstetrician.

Frances Perry House antenatal education

Frances Perry House provides online antenatal education classes, and these are available to all patients booked to deliver with Women’s Obstetric and Gynaecology Specialists. This comprehensive series includes a core program of:

There are further classes that may be suitable for certain patients (or their partners). These include:

  • Multiple pregnancy
  • Postpartum support

Frances Perry House also offers access to an excellent baby safety course by Dr Rosemarie Boland, which many of our patients choose to complete prior to the birth of their baby.
